A substantial completion inspection walk-through of the Macombs Dam Bridge project was completed on Oct. 9, 2019, marking a milestone of CCA Civil’s completion of all contractual work for the bridge rehabilitation project.
All representatives from different departments of NYCDOT were satisfied with the status of the project and congratulated those in attendance on the teamwork and partnership all parties achieved. NYCDOT Community Affairs noted that the team successfully communicated with the community, which filed zero complaints and zero formal deficiencies during the construction period that set a NYCDOT record.
Built in 1895, the Macombs Dam Bridge, which continues onto the 155th Street Viaduct, spans the Harlem River in New York City and connects the boroughs of Manhattan and the Bronx near Yankee Stadium. After 120 years of service, the steel structure of the viaduct and some major components of the system were determined to be in a dangerous condition that required rehabilitation without impacting the existing busy traffic in the Yankee Stadium area.
CCA Civil was awarded the Macombs Dam Bridge contract in 2015. As a result of great team work, CCA Civil project team was able to deliver the project on time and in great quality without having a single major safety accident. Now, the bridge was rehabilitated to serve the public safely again.
