CSCEC President Wang Honored with CGCC International Leadership Award

China General Chamber of Commerce-USA (CGCC) hosted its 2019 CGCC Chinese Lunar New Year of the Pig Gala at Cipriani 42nd St. in New York on Jan. 7, 2019. During the event, CSCEC President Xiangming Wang received the CGCC International Leadership Award for leading CSCEC to promote high industry standards, improve the business environment and fulfill outstanding corporate social responsibilities.
The 39th President of the United States Jimmy Carter sent a congratulatory letter, and Cui Tiankai, Chinese Ambassador to the United States, delivered the keynote speech. About 450 prominent government officials and business leaders from both the United States and China, including Consul General of China in New York Huang Ping, as well as representatives of non-profit organizations, joined CGCC to celebrate the continued development of Chinese investment in the United States. In his remarks, Mr. Wang thanked CGCC for its recognition and said that as the largest investment and construction company in the world, CSCEC will continue to work with business leaders to create an open, cooperative and friendly business environment between the China and the United States. C.V. Starr & Co. Inc. Chairman and CEO Maurice R. Greenberg, who was honored with the Goodwill Ambassador for China-US Exchange Award, presented the award to Mr. Wang, saying that Mr. Wang has built a great and incredible company and that he looks forward to doing more business with CSCEC.
“China will continue to work with the United States to build a strong and stable relationship,” Ambassador Cui said. “Reform and opening up in China and the normalization and development of China-US relations have benefited both countries and the entire world. This has been proven by the history of the last four decades. So the success story is not just China’s. Nor is it just America’s. It’s our shared success story.”
In addition to Mr. Wang and Mr. Greenberg, other award recipients included Louisiana Economic Development and YCI Methanol One, LLC for the Outstanding FDI Partnership Award.
The CGCC Annual Gala was created by Mr. Yuan during his term as the third chairman of CGCC and has become among the most significant events in business and commercial real estate circles. As one of the most important sponsors of the CGCC Gala, CCA has continuously supported development and investment of Chinese enterprises in the United States. During Mr. Yuan’s terms as the third and fourth chairman of CGCC, he led the organization into an increasingly important role supporting and protecting Chinese enterprises in the United States, as well as making significant contributions to the development of China-US economic relations.
Founded in 2005, CGCC is the largest nonprofit organization representing Chinese enterprises in the United States. Its mission is to promote Chinese investment in the United States, support the legal rights and interests of its members and enhance cooperation between the Chinese and US business communities. Its membership extends to more than 1,500 companies, 54 of which are ranked on the 2018 Fortune 500 List.
