The City of Hope Project Broke Ground in Panama

On October 19, 2015, CCA Panama held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Esperanza project, or “The City of Hope”. Attendees included Juan Carlos Varela, President of Panama, Wang Weihua , Chief Representative of China-Panama Trade Development Office, Tiger Wu, Chairman and CEO of CCA Panama, David Wang, President of CCA Panama, and other government officials and community representatives. The event drew attention from a number of international and Panamanian media including Xin Hua News Agency.
Chief Representative Wang applauded CCA’s decision to enter into the Panama market. He believed that CCA would make significant contributions to Panama’s infrastructure and set a good example for other Chinese companies looking to do business in Panama.
President Varela congratulated CCA on winning its first project in Panama and reflected on how he invited CCA to Panama During his visit to The Bahamas last year, he was so impressed with the magnificent work CCA had performed at the Baha Mar project that he reached out to CCA and invited CCA to do business in Panama. President Varela praised CCA’s world-class industry experience and expertise, and hoped that CCA could participate in more projects in Panama and contribute to the country’s rapid growth.
President Valera handed the Notice to Proceed to Chairman Wu, marking the official start of the Esperanza project.
CCA Panama was awarded the $137 million Esperanza project on August 4, 2015. It is a residential development project located in Arraiján District of West Panamá Province. The design-build project covers an area of approximately 89 acres, on which a neighborhood of 2,250 residential units, parks, sports venues, office buildings, a commercial district, and a university will be built. The project is anticipated to be completed in September 2018.
