CCA Civil participated in the 2019 New York State Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) forum Oct. 2-3, 2019, at the Empire State Convention Center in Albany, NY. Over the last nine years, the forum has become the largest annual business event for certified minority- and women-owned businesses in New York, attracting thousands of attendees.
The forum provided a great opportunity for CCA Civil to affirm its commitment to using MWBEs on all its projects and promote the company’s commitment to developing business opportunities for socially and economically disadvantaged businesses, which is part of its obligation as a leader in the construction industry. CCA Civil and the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) 3rd Track Contractors (3TC) were exhibitors at the forum and met with many potential partners. CCA Civil reached out to more than 80 subcontractors who showed interest in building a relationship with CCA Civil. The company also reconnected with subcontractors the company already has built business relationships with during previous outreach events.
With legislation signed earlier this year, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo reauthorized the MWBE program (Executive Law Article 15-A) for the next five years. The reauthorization not only ensures that minority- and women-owned businesses will continue to meaningfully participate in state contracting, it also significantly enhances New York MWBE program, enabling more firms to benefit from it.
The MWBE Forum enhanced CCA’s reputation and built a positive image related to the company’s support of MWBE firms in the industry. It was also a great chance to promote the company’s accomplishments, current projects and future bids.
