Baha Mar Obtains TCO, Prepares for Grand Opening

March 28, 2017

KEYWORDS:

Baha Mar, the mega resort project built by CCA in The Bahamas, obtained a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO) on March 22, giving the owner full rights to use all Baha Mar amenities included in the soft opening of the first phase, which includes the convention center, casino and casino hotel.

Getting the TCO marks CCA’s tremendous success in moving the project to completion and preparing it for the soft opening of the first phase on April 21. Upon completion, Baha Mar will be the largest mega resort in the Western Hemisphere.

“This has given us an incredible degree of pleasure,” Bahamian Prime Minister Perry Christie said. “It is all go, and it is all go right now.”
“Exactly one month away from the opening day, Bah Mar has hired a little over 1,000 employees and expects to hire 500 more by the opening date April 21. The project will open in phases for the individual hotels, hiring more and more staff to full complement of about 5,000.”

“CTFE (the owner) yesterday said the TCO showed that all Baha Mar’s safety, mechanical and electrical systems were up to Code standard, paving the way for the $4.2 billion project’s occupancy.”

“CCA’s diligence was such that if the Ministry of Works’ inspection agents found an area that was unsafe, or not up to Building Code, a team was immediately dispatched to rectify those faults the same day.”
