PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Yankees-East 153rd Street Metro-North Railroad Station is a major destination that serves the patrons of the Yankee Stadium and the surrounding area of Bronx, N.Y. It provides daily local service on the Hudson Lines and a special service from the Harlem and New Haven lines during baseball games at Yankee Stadium.
CCA Civil was in charge of the design-build project to construct a new Metro-North station next to the new Yankee Stadium. The new station consisted of two 10-car platforms, four train tracks, a 10,000-square-foot elevated mezzanine and a 256-foot pedestrian bridge. The old pedestrian bridge was demolished and replaced with a new one built over private property to access the mezzanine from Yankee Stadium. Three of the four train tracks were relocated to accommodate the new platforms. In addition, the design-build station also included the installation of new electrical systems, lighting, HVAC, communications systems, station signs, stairs and elevators.
