Plaza Construction was awarded Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (RCCL)’s new Miami headquarters in April, 2019, which broke ground recently. The project has been recognized as one of a host of new projects that “push the limits of utilitarian architecture, creating a line of distinguished buildings on downtown Miami’s doorstep” by Miami Herald.
As part of the project, a new 10-story, 350,000-square-foot building designed to look like a cruise ship will have floor-to-ceiling windows and tiered balconies. The scope of work will also include building a 1,600-space parking garage, 30,000-square-foot daycare and gymnasium building, the renovation of two existing buildings totaling approximately 300,000 square feet and the redevelopment of the entire campus, including its amenities. The redevelopment will give RCCL the ability to increase its workforce from 2,200 employees to 4,200.
